I know
a lot of Christians who want to go and serve in missions just like
our oldest son Marco who’ll be going to the Philippines this
summer. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with Everyday Matters.
Jim
Elliot, known for his dedication in missionary work, believed that
the greatest qualification for effectiveness in Christian work was
godly living. In his journal he wrote, “I
see tonight that in spiritual work, if nowhere else, the character of
the worker decides the quality of the work. . . .No wonder so much
work in the Kingdom today is shoddy – look at the moral character
of the worker.”
Titus
Chapter 3 talks about giving us a new life through the Holy Spirit
and when we trust God’s grace and mercy working in our lives we can
devote ourselves to doing good.
Our
son’s effectiveness in the Philippines will be determined by
allowing the Holy Spirit to guide him. Who he is in Christ, his
character, will be his greatest witness to show who Christ is, no
matter where he is…everyday.
