When
I changed the name of my radio program from Everyday Manna to
Everyday Matters (because I believed that’s what God was asking me
to do), I unfortunately didn’t receive a wave of enthusiastic
cheers like I wanted to hear. Hey this is Debbie Griffith with
Everyday Matters. Instead I heard some concerns and criticisms. Yuck.
This didn’t make me feel good so I wondered, “Should I
make the change?” And it also caused me to think that many people
probably never receive God’s best for them because they are
addicted to the approval of others. And even if they know God’s
will for them, they’ll not walk in it because they’re afraid
their friends may not understand or agree.
I
don’t want to live like that. We should all ask ourselves the
question from Galatians 1:10; “Am
I trying to win the approval of men, or of God?”
Hopefully, we can answer from how the verse finishes; “If
I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of
Christ.”
And so I
believe God is pleased that I’m now sharing my Everyday Matters. It’s
wise to take advice from others but in the end it’s about
standing firm in what we believe God is telling us to do…everyday.
